The story of an epic battle with a supernatural pathway to victory.
Walking with Eternity
Mid-November 2020, I was walking with Jesus, in a vision, on the sea of glass when the setting abruptly changed. It was rush hour in Atlanta, and I was trapped in the center turn lane of a five-lane road with a tractor trailer heading straight toward me. With no way out, I looked up and saw Jesus motioning me to join him on a river-like bridge crossing over the chaos and traffic below. In a nanosecond, I was walking again with Jesus on the water as He escorted me over the road with ease to my desired destination. Arriving with Jesus made all the difference — I was received with favor and ushered into a divine appointment.
Prior to this vision of walking with Jesus on the eternal river of life, I had been laboring for the kingdom of God in many ways that I was not called, designed, or equipped to do. But thankfully, Jesus was revealing a better way. With God’s grace, I repented and determined to please only God — to follow only the promptings of His Holy Spirit, not man’s. I chose and recommitted to bring Him joy and do His will His way for His kingdom to come on Earth as it is in Heaven. This reminder and revelatory experience opened the door for the creation of this painting and what I am about to share.
Come Up Here — the Vision
As a result of walking on water with Jesus, I was studying the “glassy sea” scriptures of Revelation 4 and 15 when I heard the song resounding in my spirit — “For Your Name is Holy,”[1] by Paul Wilbur. Its lyrics describe coming to and entering the Holy of holies. As I listened to the song and read Revelation 4:1, I heard Father God say, “Come up here.” But with hesitancy, I asked, “Are you sure?” He firmly replied, “You have been summoned!”
“After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this’” (Revelation 4:1 NIV).
In faith, I proceeded to obey His summons and was shown to come up via a river highway flowing out from under the throne of God. At first glimpse, it seemed the river was leading me to the New Jerusalem — the Holy City of God coming down out of heaven. The details and dimensions of this glorious city, measured in cubits, are recorded in Revelation 21. Today a cubit equals eighteen inches which is, God-incidentally, the width of the canvas used for this painting. The height of the canvas, twenty-four inches, represents the number of elders with crowns seated around God’s throne. The heavenly details and dimensions of God’s city are perfection. Therefore, we pray — let what is in heaven be on earth that all the inhabitants, every life form, would see and know the goodness and glory of God!
Then I saw two enormous, bronze doors standing open through which to come. In specific detail, I was shown an X-grid pattern cast into them. I later discovered that X is the first letter of the Greek word for Christ and has been used for hundreds of years as a Christogram. It also symbolizes a crossing point. Knowing the bronze doors represent Jesus and His perfect sacrifice for us on the cross, I pled the blood of the Lamb — Jesus Christ — the way, the truth, the life, and the only door through which we may enter the Holy of holies and the presence of God. “What He opens no one can shut and what He shuts no one can open” (Revelation 3:7 NIV).
Passing through the opened doors, I quickly traveled up the river-of-life highway to God’s throne. Along the way I pulled out, from the pocket of the white robe I was wearing, a handful of tiny gold crowns casting them in and around the river. These crowns — tiny by comparison to the King’s crown — were for the countless times I have overcome and been victorious by the power of His grace. A friend once told me not to underestimate the battles or the victories I have had. To the victorious ones, Jesus said, He gives the right to sit with Him on His throne. (See Revelation 3:21 NIV). To those who receive Him as their Savior, He cleanses and gives white robes of righteousness.
“At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the One who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads” (Revelation 4:2-4 NIV).
By divine summons and provision, there I stood before God seated on His throne with its foundation of righteousness and justice. He knew why I was there and what I needed — His wisdom, perspective, strategies, and His pathway to victory over the epic battle raging below. I needed to seek God, His kingdom, and His righteousness first and foremost both privately and corporately. (See Matthew 6:33 NIV) So when given the opportunity, I shared a sketch of what is now painted on canvas at our local fellowship gathering. We talked about the battle and God’s instructions to “Come up here.” We talked about our victories, both large and small. Then we worshipped God with all our hearts and minds. We sang “This is How I Fight My Battles”[2] and “O Come Let Us Adore Him.”[3] We traded our temporal troubles to exalt our wonderful, eternal God. The atmosphere filled with such a heaviness I could barely breathe or move for fear of it lifting. Then I became keenly aware of GOD on His throne in our midst. I felt, what seemed to be, the weight of His foot resting on top of mine and then the brush of a feather from His wings on my arm. Tears of unspeakable joy spontaneously streamed down my face. I believe it was a foretaste of what is to come. Lord, “Let the weight of Your glory fall on us, Let the life of your river flow, Let the truth of your kingdom reign in us. Let the weight of Your glory fall.”[4]
The Battle Below
Part of me would like to talk of nothing else, but this is only half of the story. So, I will share the vision of the epic battle below. The setting was an actual place near my home — a shopping center much like one near you. The only difference about this place is its profoundly prophetic names and symbols. In the painting, they tell the story of the epic battle happening in our nation and the world today merged with God’s kingdom pathway to victory revealed in the vision above.
The place is Riverstone Plaza on Riverstone Parkway in Canton, Georgia — where I have been doing business with Pearle Vision for an unusually extended period of time. Spiritually speaking, the first part of its name, is a reference to the river of life flowing out from under God’s throne bringing life wherever it goes — even to our marketplace, neighborhoods, and government. The second part speaks of the stones that the Israelites collected and used for altars of remembrance whenever God made a way through the waters for them to cross over on dry ground.
The city, Canton, Georgia, is named after what used to be called Canton, China — a major trade center and port city which is located on the Pearl River. A wealthy Georgian who liked to trade with China gave Canton, Georgia its name. Therefore, a store in the painting, called China Trading, is shown to represent trading or doing business with China whose beloved symbol for power and strength is the dragon. However, in the prophetic message of this painting and according to scripture the dragon represents our adversary, the devil. Instead of trading or fighting with the devil, God has summoned us to come up before His throne, not only, to gain His perspective, but also His wisdom, power, and strength for the advancing of His kingdom.
Speaking of trading on the Pearl River, and doing business with Pearle Vision — remember the biblical parable of the kingdom of God being like the merchant who when he found the pearl of great worth sold all he had to obtain it? (See Matthew 13:45-46 NIV) Well, it appears I now have pearl vision. Believe it or not — God sent a groundhog without a shadow on Riverstone Parkway at just the right time to indicate that my assignment in this location is finished. Exactly nine prophetic months after it began, my lenses are right for optimum vision. I am very thankful to the optician who positively refused to give up and whose name means prosperous valley. But far greater is the value of having been before the throne of God to obtain kingdom vision for victories in the valleys below.
In the painting, God’s life-giving river is shown flowing through Canton, Georgia — the governmental seat and justice center for Cherokee County — where my family has also been doing business. However, Macon, Georgia — another county seat in the very heart of Georgia — is where I was sent to begin the painting, during the Pray Georgia 2021 Annual Assembly called “Releasing the Sound of Justice.” As I prepared for the event, researching the elements of these combined visions, I discovered the oversized, bronze “Doors of Justice” to the Supreme Court of America. Not surprisingly, they resemble the enormous doors on the painting opening to God’s Supreme Court in heaven. Perhaps you are wondering, why all of this is set in Georgia? Have you ever heard the prophecy — “As Georgia goes so goes the nation?” I believe Georgia is on God’s mind because He desires that the foundation of His throne — righteousness and justice — would be the established in all our governmental seats.
But as shown on the painting — there is resistance. Behind Riverstone Plaza, in the middle of the painted forest, there is what looks like smoke. It reminds me of the saying “where there is smoke there is fire” which appears to be truer today than ever before. Then I heard a speaker, at the Pray Georgia Assembly, describe the mist in Noah’s day — before the rain and the flood — as representing a time when the land was lacking righteous men to govern the earth. I believe now is such a time as that and God is calling His righteous people to rise in their God-given authority to re-establish His kingdom order in the land.
Above the forest, I was shown a media command center with the woman, Jezebel, rising out of dark, billowing clouds as she transformed into a red dragon. Revelation 12 speaks of a red dragon (or devil) that wants to devour the man-child at birth. Could the woman of this story represent the church, the body of Christ, as she begins to manifest Christ, the hope of glory to the world? Remember, Jesus did come through a woman to save the world and even now He is coming again through His bride, the church.
The media or command center under the clouds is all about the deception being spread through our modern-day communications to seduce and control the nation, if not the world. This, too, is the work of our adversary, the devil, partnering with the Jezebel spirit whom the docile church has been tolerating — allowing to operate without interference — for far to long. It is time for the righteous to rise with courage and strength to take back our land! To do that we need God’s perspective and possibly new lenses with which to see because “where there is no vision, the people perish…” (Proverbs 29:18 KJV). Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint (run wild, NLT); but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction” (NIV).
Through God’s manifold wisdom, both the Come Up Here and The Battle Below visions were given prior to the announcement of the 2020 election results and prior to the release of the China flu but during the continual spread of deception and coercion through the mainstream media. God was preparing me in advance to do battle from His throne versus earth’s dominion. Following His strategic instructions to “Come Up Here,” I was able to rise above it all — the devil, Jezebel, traffic, deception, death, and the evil trading below. Standing before the Glory of God eclipsed the chaos below. What a wonderfully clear place to be!
“From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder” (Revelation 4:5 NIV).
See the light and lightnings passing through the person standing before the throne of God? This is how we fight our battles. The goal is to be a vessel through which His life, light, truth, words, and power can be released. We are His ambassadors given full authority to declare His will done on earth. Hence, we need to silence the noise around us — to tune our hearts and senses to the Lord. Like in the movie, “The Legend of Bagger Vance,”[5] when the local golfer prepares to make a hole in one stroke, he intentionally erases from his conscious mind all surrounding distractions in order to focus solely on the goal. Incidentally, this movie was also set in Georgia but during the Great Depression. Derailed by the effect of his service in WWI, the main character is given the opportunity to be a hero, once again, to his community. However, to do that he needs some serious coaching to get his game back and find the pathway to victory.
Over a storefront in the painting, there is a sign that says Vic†ory with the symbol of a cross replacing the letter t. The sign indicates a place where the church, or ecclesia, gathers to fellowship, worship, and exalt God above all else. As we gather in His name, we know that He is with us and if God is with us who can stand against us. (See Matthew 18:20, Romans 8:31 NIV) The name, Vic†ory, is meant to be a witness and reminder that we are more than victorious through Christ Jesus who victoriously loved us on the cross and strengthens us in every way for His glory. (See Romans 8:37, Philippians 4:13) After a year of disease, disappointments, and deaths — gathering together, recounting our victories and praising God for them is crucial. Why? Because God, Himself, inhabits the praise and adoration of His people.
Let Justice Roll like a River
To my amazement, when I arrived — at the “Releasing the Sound of Justice” assembly — knowing I would be painting a river flowing from under the throne of God whose foundation is righteousness and justice — I saw bottles of river-water collected from all the rivers of Georgia. As a prophetic act of convergence, these waters were poured into a fountain which had been set up as a witness and altar to the Lord. It was done based on the Amos 5:24 scripture, “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (NIV) For context, perhaps the whole of Amos 5 could and should be a lament and call to repentance for us in this hour, like it was for the people of Israel so long ago. Because it is written that God says,
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).
We all want His river of life to flow through us unhindered — to the world around us: our neighborhoods, families, cities, states, and nations; our media, marketplace, government, entertainment, schools, churches, hospitals, and more. Coming from under the very throne of God, it brings righteousness and justice to our land!
